The mission of Kamal Music Centre is to offer music as a unifying force. The Centre of Indian Music celebrates the diversity offered in Indian music by offering different courses in music.

About The Centre

Kamal Music Centre is a school for North Indian music located in Surrey BC. Since its establishment in 2005, Kamal Music Centre is dedicated to providing musical excellence with practical and theoretical methods of learning vocal and instrumental music. We offer instrumental and vocal music classes in individual and group classes.

We have students ranging from age 4 to 75. Some of the students have done professionally well by releasing their own CD’s and have done well in multiple music competitions.

Kamal Music Centre is duly affiliated and accredited as an examination Centre for Indian music. All degrees are issued by a deemed university in India (offering 2 year junior diploma and 3 year senior diploma). All music instruments are provided for lessons but students are also encouraged to bring their own instruments.

Our Mission

Education: To be the premier music institute that educates students for personal as well as professional enhancement. Our music has its roots in the rich cultural heritage of India. Admission is open to all, as long as students have the commitment, patience, dedication and determination. We nurture the students whether they are beginners or advanced.

Research: To guide students who have a strong interest in music history, inquiry into the theoretical foundations of music theory and various genres of vocal and instrumental music.

Artistry: To promote creativity and innovation in music. If students are committed, we will groom them into becoming full-fledged performing artists.

Appreciation: To encourage students in perceiving the aesthetic features of music. A sense of deep music appreciation unlocks vast treasures of everlasting peace and satisfaction.


Kamal is having Master’s degree in vocal and instrumental music from Panjab university, Chandigarh. Further, she has done multiple six-year degree courses in Tabla, Sitar, Vocal, Violin, and Flute from Pryaag Sangeet Samiti in Allahabad.

Kamal is a senior professional disciple of world-renowned Guru Pandit Ram Dutt Morya of Banaras Gharana. Also, she is a senior professional disciple for vocal music of world-renowned guru vocalist Pandit Hans Raj Gautam of Patiala Gharana and Pandit Yashpaul “SagunPiya” of Agra Gharana.

Kamal has been teaching music since 1986. She was a lecturer of music till 2005 with the education department of Chandigarh in India. During her tenure as a lecturer she was awarded best teacher, best singer, and best music director by the education department.

Since 2005, she has been recognized/ facilitated due to her hard work and community outreach by CAN Education Foundation, Pacific Canadian Multicultural Arts Society, Shree Sanatan Dharm Sabha, Fiji Vedic Hindu Cultural Society Surrey, Ansal Media group, and Lifestyle Magazine. She has officiated as judge in various functions organized by multiple organizations such as RED FM Idol and International Indian Icon hosted by Zee TV.
